Job Description

Position Title Clinical Technician IV (Acute Care)
Job Description Purpose & Scope:
The Clinical Technician IV works under the direct supervision of the RN and is an active member of the health care team. Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, the Clinical Technician performs a variety of routine duties involving the care of patients including performing direct patient care or activities of daily living, observing changes in the status of patients, providing a clean and safe environment, transporting patients, and other related duties. Clinical Technicians must be empathetic and have good communication and nursing skills to care for patients.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
One of the following is required: One year of Clinical technician 3 or equivalent clinical experience as defined in the CORE Skills for Clinical Technician 4; or Current VHC Clinical Technician 3 who has successfully completed the VHC Clinical Technician 4 education; or Graduate of a technical program meeting CORE skills & competencies for Clinical Technician 4; or Advanced EMT or Military training (Corpsman, Medic) with equivalent practice as Clinical Technician 4.
Certification/Licensure:
ACLS certification is required. Other Qualifications Minimum of 16 education hours related to current role.

Level IV is available on units as defied by the ladder.

ACLS or PALS cards stand as showing competence in BLS Skills per American Heart Association Guidelines. If an employee holds current ACLS or PALS certification, this meets the requirement for BLS in their job description. They do not need to also carry a separate BLS certification.
