DIETARY AIDE JOB DESCRIPTION

Provide assistance in all dietary functions as instructed. This position is a safety sensitive position as defined by applicable state law.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working in a dietary related field preferred, but not required.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Skilled at organizing various duties. Must be flexible and able to handle change easily and professionally. Must be punctual and consistent with work schedule. Maintain a positive attitude. Communicate with residents, families and staff in a professional and tactful manner. Be a role model of professionalism and teamwork. Demonstrate good work and time management habits. Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, pushing and pulling, fine hand coordination, ability to hear and respond to pages, ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions; ability to communicate with residents, families, personnel, vendors and consultants; ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures; and the ability to remain calm under stress.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assuring resident safety. Assist in serving meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance as necessary and on a timely basis, following established portion control procedures. Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, in accordance with established policies and procedures. Perform dishwashing and cleaning procedures as directed, including: cleaning work tables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, etc. ; sweeping and mopping floors as directed; bussing tables; returning clean utensils to proper storage areas; washing and cleaning utensils as directed. Carry out garbage and keep work areas clean, dry and free of hazardous equipment and supplies. Set up prior to meals, and remove following meals, meal trays, food carts and dining room as instructed. Assist cook in preparing meals and supplies and checking diet trays before distribution. Deliver food carts and trays to designated areas. Serve food in dining room as instructed. Prepare and deliver snacks as instructed. Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times. Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies. Ensure that food and supplies for the next meal are readily available. Assist in inventorying and storing in-coming food and supplies as necessary. These duties and responsibilities are not a comprehensive list, and additional tasks may be assigned from time to time. The scope of this position may change as necessitated by business demands.
