Job Title:
Food Service Aide Job Description The Food Service Aide takes customer orders, assembles meals, and delivers exceptional customer service in a busy hospital cafeteria setting. This role supports safe and efficient food service operations by following food safety and hygiene procedures, assisting with food preparation and cleaning tasks, and accurately processing staff orders and transactions. Responsibilities Take customer and staff food orders in a courteous and efficient manner. Provide exceptional customer service by responding promptly and professionally to questions, requests, and concerns. Ensure all food safety and hygiene procedures are followed at all times, including proper food handling and temperature control. Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling trays, portioning food, and preparing ingredients. Work on the tray line to assemble and organize meal trays accurately and efficiently. Process staff orders and transactions using the designated point-of-sale or transaction system. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafeteria, kitchen, and food service areas, including equipment, counters, and dining spaces. Support general labor tasks in the food service area, such as stocking supplies and disposing of waste according to guidelines. Collaborate with team members in food service and hospitality to ensure smooth and timely meal service. Essential Skills Experience in order fulfillment within a foodservice or cafeteria environment. Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with a variety of customers. Knowledge of safe food handling practices and food safety procedures. Ability to perform food preparation tasks, including assembling trays and preparing basic food items. Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced food service or hospitality setting. Attention to cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen and cafeteria areas. Ability to process orders and transactions accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a cafeteria, food service, or hospital food service environment. Experience as a kitchen helper, food service worker, or general laborer in hospitality. Experience working on a tray line or in a similar assembly-style food service role. Work Environment This position is based in a cafeteria located inside a hospital. You work in a fast-paced food service environment that involves standing for extended periods, moving between kitchen, tray line, and serving areas, and handling food and cleaning tasks. The role follows a first-shift schedule, typically from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with regular days off on Tuesday and Wednesday. You use standard food service equipment and tools while adhering to hospital and food safety guidelines throughout your shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Los Angeles, CA 90033. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
