Santa Barbara, CA Pay Rate:
$18.80 per hour Union Position Position Summary Buena Vista Care Center is seeking a compassionate and dependable Dietary Aide to join our team. The Dietary Aide plays an important role in providing quality nutritional services to our residents by assisting with meal preparation, meal service, sanitation, and maintaining a clean and safe dining environment. This position is essential to supporting resident health, comfort, and satisfaction within our skilled nursing facility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with meal preparation according to menu plans and dietary guidelines. Prepare and portion food items as directed by the Dietary Manager or Cook. Set up meal trays and accurately serve meals according to resident diet orders. Deliver meals to residents and assist with dining room meal service. Ensure proper food temperatures are maintained during preparation and service. Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment. Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, dining rooms, and kitchen equipment. Stock supplies and rotate food inventory according to facility procedures. Follow all food safety, infection control, and sanitation standards. Assist residents with meal needs as directed by nursing staff. Report resident food preferences, concerns, or changes in appetite to appropriate staff. Comply with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding food service in a healthcare setting. Attend required in-services, meetings, and training programs. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous food service experience preferred, especially in a healthcare or long-term care setting. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work cooperatively with residents, families, and team members. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices preferred. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry items throughout the workday. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Union Position This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement (union contract). Employees in this role are covered by the terms and conditions negotiated between the union and the facility.
