Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of your job position is to work alongside Dietitians, Dietary Managers and Cooks to prepare and help prepare food for residents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Preparing meals, snacks and beverages as designated by the management team. Work closely with residents to plan menus that reflect choice and preferences.
  • Ensure that a good standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained throughout the kitchen to meet the required standards of practice prescribed by Environmental Health Agencies.
  • Adhere to facilities policies and procedures.
  • Serve meals, ensuring food safety and hygiene procedures are followed at all times.
  • Ensure all equipment used is well maintained, in good working order and to log any defects and report to manager.
  • Assist with food ordering and storage as designated by the food service director.
  • Make and record menu changes under the direction of the food service director.
  • Report and record in the appropriate manner any information considered to be important to the manager.
  • Maintain standards for food preparation and quality of food service; uses nutritionally equivalent substitutes when required.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Education / Licensure High school diploma or GED Certification in food safety as required by state regulations.
Qualifications / Experience
Two to three years' experience in a hospital, long-term care or skilled nursing facility dietary department preferred Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service, patience, empathy and compassion Effective communication skills, including active listening, writing, speaking and reading comprehension Good collaboration and teamwork skills Keen attention to detail Working Conditions May encounter frequent interruptions May be involved with residents, family and government agencies May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses Physical Requirements Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day Must be able to stand, bend and reach throughout the day Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

From $18.00 per hour
