Job Description

Position Summary The Dietary Aide assists in the preparation and service of meals for residents in an assisted living community. This role helps maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and dining environment while ensuring residents receive courteous and respectful meal service that supports their nutritional needs and overall well-being. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare dining areas before meals, including setting tables and organizing supplies. Assist with meal preparation, portioning, and plating according to dietary guidelines. Serve meals and beverages to residents in a friendly and professional manner. Deliver trays to residents' rooms when required. Follow resident dietary restrictions and special meal plans. Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment. Clean and sanitize kitchen, dining areas, and food preparation surfaces. Store food properly and monitor temperatures according to health and safety standards. Assist with inventory, stocking supplies, and rotating food items. Dispose of trash and maintain cleanliness throughout the shift. Observe and report residents' appetite changes or concerns to supervisors. Follow all infection control, food safety, and sanitation regulations. Work cooperatively with kitchen staff, caregivers, and nursing personnel. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous food service or healthcare experience preferred but not required. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be dependable, punctual, and compassionate toward elderly residents. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 30-50 pounds. Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Ability to work in hot and cold environments such as kitchens and storage areas. Work Environment Assisted living community or senior care facility. Exposure to kitchen equipment, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures. Weekend and holiday availability may be required. Preferred Certifications Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification Skills and Competencies Teamwork and collaboration Attention to detail Time management Compassionate resident care Cleanliness and organization Reliability and professionalism
Pay:
$16.00 - $17.00 per hour
