Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Certified Dietary Manager to oversee our dietary services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dietetics, management, and patient care, with a focus on delivering nutritious, personalized meal plans and ensuring adherence to health standards. As a Certified Dietary Manager, you will lead the dietary department, coordinate care plans, and support residents' nutritional well-being through effective supervision and strategic planning. Responsibilities
- Perform inspections of the dietary department to ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of the department based on facility guidelines and state laws and regulations.
- Oversees the dietary department budget and operates the department in conjunction with budgetary expectations.
- Recruits, selects and orients qualified team members for the Dietary Department.
- Works as an interdisciplinary team member to complete MDS Assessments and progress notes.
- Conducts nutritional assessment on residents to ensure resident needs are addressed and fulfilled.
- Oversees menu preparation, nourishments and supplements in accordance with company guidelines and state laws or regulations; monitors each day to ensure necessary substitutions are provided.
- Monitors the department to ensure food is received, stored, and prepared in accordance with guidelines and state laws and regulations.
- Interviews, hire and manages the dietary staff to ensure the effective and efficient operations of the department.
- Provides expectations and monitors performance of Dietary Department.
- Assists with assessing, developing, and implementing the nutritional plan of care for residents.
- Monitors food preparation to ensure proper processes are followed for quality assurance through tasting, monitoring temperatures.
- Assists with providing education to the family and residents on nutrition as needed.
- Partners with Registered Dietitian to accurately prepare for resident meals
- Visits family or resident upon admission to discuss food or meal preferences and needs.
- Attends meetings related to resident care and dietary activities.
- Enters new admission information in the computer.
- Makes rounds to understand resident needs and to determine ways of improving dietary department activities.
- Performs inspections of the dietary department to ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of the department based on company guidelines and state laws and regulations.
- Orders food and supplies based on company budget from preferred vendors.
- Reconciles invoices and maintains financial information accurately and timely.
- Monitors and changes diet tray cards for accuracy and to meet resident needs.
- Assists in preparation of the meals as needed.
- Conducts weight audits at least on a monthly basis.
- Conducts weight checks at least on a weekly basis.
- Monitors the process for labeling foods and inventory to ensure fresh stock.
- Assists with arranging events and celebrations as needed.
- Assists in the dietary department with food preparation, distribution and cleaning, as needed Skills
- Extensive knowledge of dietetics principles, nutrition science, and physiology relevant to healthcare settings.
- Proven management experience within dietary or food service departments, particularly in assisted living or healthcare environments.
- Strong supervisory skills with the ability to lead diverse teams effectively
- Experience in patient assessment processes and developing tailored nutrition interventions.
- Competence in budgeting, inventory management, and cost control within a dietary department.
- Excellent communication skills, team collaboration, and resident interaction.
