Job Description

Job Summary Join our dedicated dietary team as a Dietary Aide/Cook, where you will play a vital role in delivering nutritious, delicious meals to our residents while ensuring a safe and welcoming dining environment. This energetic position combines food preparation, service, and sanitation responsibilities, all performed with compassion and attention to detail. You will work closely with healthcare professionals to meet the dietary needs of our residents, including those with special diets or medical conditions. Your contribution helps create a positive dining experience that promotes health, comfort, and well-being for our community.
Schedule Details Flexibility:
Shifts include both mornings and evenings.
Morning Shift:
6:30 AM - 2:30
PM Evening Shift:
1:30 PM - 7:00
PM Days:
Primarily Monday through Friday, with open weekend availability required. Responsibilities Prepare and assemble meals according to standardized recipes, dietary guidelines, and resident preferences while maintaining high food safety standards. Serve meals efficiently and courteously to residents, ensuring proper portioning and presentation. Assist with food handling, sanitation, cleaning of kitchen equipment, dishes, and dining areas to uphold workplace safety and hygiene standards. Support dietary department operations by bussing tables, stocking supplies, and managing food storage in compliance with sanitation protocols. Follow safe lifting practices during manual handling of heavy items such as bulk ingredients or large trays to prevent injuries. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during food preparation and cleaning tasks. Collaborate with nursing staff and dietary team members to accommodate special diets and assist with nutritional needs for geriatric patients or residents with specific health conditions. Qualifications Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred. Knowledge of food production, preparation techniques, and sanitation practices aligned with DIA standards or similar accreditation bodies. Demonstrated ability in time management to handle meal schedules efficiently while maintaining quality standards. A background in batch cooking and experience working within a care facility atmosphere is highly preferred. Familiarity with food safety regulations, proper food handling procedures, and workplace safety protocols. Experience working with geriatric patients or individuals requiring specialized diets is a plus. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and consistently follow safe lifting practices during daily tasks. CPR certification and knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) use are desirable but not mandatory; training can be provided.

$17.00 - $18.50 per hour
