Dietary Manager Position Summary The Dietary Manager is responsible for collaborating with the Registered Dietitian to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operations of the Dietary Department. This role ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures. The Dietary Manager ensures the provision of high-quality nutritional services while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Department Operations & Compliance Assist in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the Dietary Department's programs and services Ensure departmental compliance with all regulatory standards and facility policies Participate in state and federal surveys and ensure readiness at all times Review and update policies, procedures, and job descriptions at least annually and recommend revisions as needed Staff Management & Oversight Assist in developing and maintaining job descriptions and performance evaluations for dietary staff Address staff concerns, complaints, and grievances; document and report actions taken to the Dietitian and/or Administrator Ensure staff are educated on and adhere to resident care plans related to dietary services Resident Care & Clinical Support Process new diet orders and changes received from Nursing in a timely and accurate manner Review therapeutic and regular diet plans and menus to ensure compliance with physician orders Participate in resident assessments, including obtaining diet histories and food preferences Maintain accurate records of resident food likes and dislikes Ensure dietary progress notes are timely, accurate, and reflective of resident response to interventions Review and update dietary portions of care plans and assessments at least quarterly Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of nutritional care Food Service & Sanitation Ensure all food preparation, storage, and service areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition Conduct routine inspections of food storage areas, utility rooms, and supply areas Maintain appropriate inventory levels of food, supplies, and equipment Collaborate with Infection Control to implement and maintain proper sanitation and infection prevention practices Administrative & Financial Responsibilities Assist with budget development, monitoring, and cost control measures Review financial reports and expenditures related to dietary services Ensure menus and documentation are maintained according to facility policy Additional Duties Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator or Dietitian Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Certified Food Service Sanitation Manager (required) Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting Knowledge of dietary practices, therapeutic diets, and regulatory requirements in long-term care Physical Demands Ability to move throughout the facility intermittently during the workday Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 pounds up to 50 feet Ability to assist with emergency evacuation procedures if necessary Work environment may involve moderate noise levels IND123
