Job Description

Job Summary The Dietary Clerk / Dietary Aide supports the hospital dietary department by coordinating patient meal services, maintaining accurate diet orders, and assisting with food preparation and service. This role is essential in ensuring patients receive nutritionally appropriate meals in accordance with physician orders, therapeutic diets, and hospital regulatory standards, including CMS Conditions of Participation. Job Duties Prepare and assemble meals according to dietary guidelines and menu specifications, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met. Assist with food handling, serving, and portioning to deliver timely and satisfying meals to residents. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, dining areas, and food preparation surfaces in compliance with health regulations. Support the dietary department by bussing tables, cleaning dishes, and ensuring proper food storage practices. Follow all safety protocols related to food handling, sanitation, and kitchen operations to uphold high standards of hygiene. Collaborate with nursing staff and dietary team members to accommodate special diets or dietary restrictions for residents. Manage time efficiently during meal preparation and service to meet scheduled meal times without delays. EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
A high school diploma or its equivalent is required. Must be able to read with comprehension, write legibly and perform simple arithmetic calculations. Must be capable of successfully completing the job training in department and hospital methods and procedures. Must be able to comprehend and follow simple instructions and to follow proper sanitary regulations. Must be capable of performing repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.
