Summary:
Perform assigned work in preparing and serving food, cleaning food service areas, equipment and utensils.
Qualifications:
Education :
§ Tenth grade or above desirable § Proficiency in English is required.
Experience:
§ Experience in dietary department, large volume food preparation and service preferred.
Essential Functions:
§ Demonstrates professional conduct and ethics according to Kindred policy and procedure. § Performs job duties safely as specified in the physical, sensory and mental requirements. § Must be able to work cooperatively as a member of a team. § Prepares patient trays according to instructions/order. § Employs proper food handling techniques whether in preparation of food or setting up or serving trays. § Cleans, washes and sanitizes dishes, silverware and utensils used to service patients and others. § Assists in maintaining the general cleanliness of the dishwashing area. § Cleans work area and equipment as assigned. § Puts up stock in food storage areas and refrigerators as assigned. § Delivers food, nourishments and supplies to nursing units, other areas as assigned. § Performs duties using proper infection control techniques and using protective equipment as needed. § Performs all duties using proper safety techniques. § Essential to attend and participate in in-service education opportunities. § Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
§ Knowledge of safe food preparation and handling techniques. § Ability to read and write in English at a level appropriate for the job. § Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members. § Ability to be patient and polite.
