Job Description

Culinary Specialist Position Summary:
Provide residents with nutritious, well-prepared meals served with compassion, professionalism, and attention to individual dietary needs while maintaining high standards of sanitation and safety.
Schedule:
4:30 PM - 7:00
PM Reports To:
Dietary Director Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, portion, and serve meals, snacks, desserts, beverages, and supplements according to menu and therapeutic diet requirements Assist residents during meal service with professionalism, patience, and empathy Maintain accurate documentation of dietary changes, meal intake, and resident requests Operate, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment following sanitation and safety standards Wash dishes, cookware, and kitchen utensils in compliance with state and federal regulations Monitor dishwasher temperatures and ensure proper sanitation procedures are followed Assist with food receiving, storage, and inventory organization Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding resident dietary needs Support a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and dining environment Participate in training, in-services, and facility initiatives as assigned
Qualifications:
Previous food service experience preferred Long-term care or healthcare dietary experience preferred Ability to read, write, follow directions, and perform basic math Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and therapeutic diets Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds during shifts Ability to work in hot and cold environments and safely handle cleaning chemicals and kitchen equipment
