Job Description:
The Dietary Aide assists in the preparation, serving, and delivery of meals to residents while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and dining environment. This position plays an important role in ensuring residents receive nutritious meals that meet physician orders, dietary restrictions, and individual preferences. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and serve meals, snacks, and beverages according to menu plans and diet orders. Set up food trays and meal carts accurately and efficiently. Deliver meals to resident rooms and dining areas as assigned. Assist residents during mealtimes as directed by nursing staff. Ensure proper portion control and food presentation. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, dining rooms, and food preparation areas. Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment. Clean and sanitize tables, counters, refrigerators, and other food service equipment. Store food properly and follow food safety regulations. Monitor food temperatures and document as required. Assist with receiving and storing food and supply deliveries. Follow infection control procedures and safe food handling practices. Report equipment malfunctions, food shortages, and safety concerns to the supervisor. Attend required in-service training and staff meetings. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or Administrator. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous food service experience preferred but not required. Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices preferred. Ability to work effectively with elderly residents and team members. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift throughout the workday. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Working Conditions Exposure to hot surfaces, kitchen equipment, and cleaning chemicals. Frequent interaction with residents, visitors, and staff. Exposure to food allergens and varying kitchen temperatures. Must follow all infection control and safety procedures. Expectations Treat residents with dignity, respect, and compassion.
