Job Description

ResponsibilitiesMeal Planning & PreparationPrepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to approved menus.

Follow
USDA/CACFP
meal patterns and portion requirements.

Accommodate food allergies, dietary restrictions, and special meal requests.

Ensure meals are served on schedule and at appropriate temperatures.

Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, and nutrition.

Kitchen OperationsMaintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen at all times.

Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.

Monitor food temperatures and maintain required logs and documentation.

Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks.

Ensure proper food storage, labeling, rotation, and inventory management.

Inventory & PurchasingOrder food, supplies, and kitchen materials within budget guidelines.

Maintain appropriate inventory levels to prevent shortages and waste.

Receive deliveries and verify quality and accuracy of products.

Track food costs and minimize waste through effective planning.

Compliance & SafetyMaintain compliance with state childcare licensing requirements.

Follow all allergy protocols and food handling procedures.

Ensure kitchen equipment is used safely and properly maintained.

Participate in inspections and maintain required records.

Team CollaborationCommunicate effectively with directors, teachers, and families regarding dietary needs.

Support classroom staff during meal service as needed.

Maintain a positive and professional attitude while contributing to a team-oriented environment.

QualificationsRequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent.

Previous experience in food preparation, commercial kitchens, school nutrition, or childcare food service.

Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

PreferredServSafe Food Handler or Food Manager Certification.

Experience with CACFP meal requirements.

Experience working in a childcare, school, healthcare, or institutional food service setting.
