Job Description

This is
PDR, AS NEEDED
position. Job Summary The Dietary Services Cook/Aide is responsible for helping prepare and serve nutritious meals to patients, staff, and visitors in accordance with prescribed dietary requirements and sanitation standards. This position assists with kitchen cleaning, food storage and inventory, meal prep and presentation, serving trays to patients, and ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Cooking Duties:
Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus and dietary guidelines. Modify meals to accommodate special diets (e.g., low-sodium, diabetic, gluten-free). Ensure food is prepared and stored at appropriate temperatures. Follow safe food handling procedures at all times.
Aide Duties:
Assemble meal trays according to patient diet orders. Deliver and retrieve meal trays from patient rooms in a timely and courteous manner. Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, dishes, utensils, and work areas. Assist with receiving, labeling, and rotating food and supplies. Maintain food safety logs and report any concerns to supervisor.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in a healthcare food service or institutional kitchen is a plus. Basic understanding of special diets and food allergies. Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately. Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and safety. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
