Job Description
The Food Service Aid assists the Dietary Manager and Cook preparing palatable, nourishing, well-balanced meals to meet the daily nutritional and special dietary needs for each resident. Responsibilities & Duties Prepare and serve food in proper quantities according to the planned menu, production schedule, residents' diet order and /or choices. Prepare, store and dispose of food using proper handling, labeling, and safety techniques according to established policies, procedures and as directed by the supervisor. Assembles trays according to the resident's tray ticket and ensure that food is served in an attractive, appetizing manner. Maintains the proper temperature of food during preparation and service. Records food temperature according to established policy. Delivers meals and nourishment to designated facility locations. Washes dishes and all other kitchen utensils and equipment according to established procedures for manual and/or automatic dishwashing. Assist in receiving and storage of incoming food and supplies as designated by the supervisor. Performs assigned cleaning assignments according to established policies or as designated by the supervisor. Always maintains food service equipment and workspaces in a clean and safe condition according to facility policies, procedures and applicable regulations. Understand and adhere to facility policies and procedures. Skills Experience working in a healthcare setting, particularly in long-term care, is preferred but not required. Ability to perform in a high stress, fast-paced environment Ability to work in a team environment Physical Demands and Environment Shift work is required, employee may be required to sit, bend, stoop, use keyboard, see, talk and hear. May occasionally lift medium to heavy objects including assisting with the movement of Residents.
