This energetic position offers the opportunity to assist with supervising dietary staff, ensuring compliance with healthcare dietary regulations, maintaining food safety standards, and providing high-quality meal service to our residents. Your expertise will help enhance the quality of life for residents by implementing tailored nutrition plans, maintaining food safety standards, and fostering a positive team atmosphere. Duties Assist the Dietary Manager with the daily operation of the Dietary Department. Supervise dietary staff and provide leadership, coaching, and support during assigned shifts. Assist with menu implementation and special diet preparation. Maintain compliance with all federal, state, local, and facility dietary regulations and sanitation standards. Monitor food preparation, storage, and service to ensure food safety and quality. Provide opportunities for resident input regarding menus and food service operations. Assist with departmental and staffing coverage, including weekends. Help train and orient new dietary employees. Conduct routine kitchen inspections to ensure cleanliness, organization, and regulatory compliance. Maintain accurate documentation and records as required. Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering food and supplies. Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance. Maintain Certified Dietary Manager credentials or actively pursue certification if applicable Attend required in-services and continuing education programs. Maintain awareness of infection prevention practices and food safety regulations. Experience Required High school diploma or equivalent. One (1) year experience with healthcare dietary regulations and long-term care food service. Current Food Safety Certification (ServSafe or equivalent). Must maintain an active certification in good standing throughout employment. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to work weekends and maintain a flexible schedule. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention practices. Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team. Preferred Current certification as a Certified Dietary Manager in applicable State. Previous supervisory experience in a dietary or food service department. Knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutrition requirements for elderly residents. Experience working in a skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation center, hospital, or other healthcare setting.
