Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Dietary Aide to oversee the dietary services within our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food preparation, food safety, and working with geriatric patients. As a Lead Dietary Aide, you will coordinate meal service, supervise dietary staff, and ensure compliance with all safety and sanitation standards. This role is vital in delivering nutritious, appealing meals that meet the dietary needs of our residents while maintaining a safe and efficient kitchen environment. Duties Supervise and assist dietary staff in meal preparation, serving, and cleaning activities to ensure smooth daily operations. Coordinate meal schedules and ensure timely delivery of nutritious meals tailored to residents' dietary requirements. Oversee food handling, sanitation, and safety protocols in accordance with JCAHO standards and local health regulations. Assist in food production and cooking processes, ensuring quality control and proper portioning. Train staff on safe lifting practices, manual handling, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and workplace safety procedures. Maintain accurate documentation related to food safety, sanitation, and inventory management. Support the dietary department in implementing nutrition guidelines and special diet plans for residents with specific health needs. Foster a positive team environment by providing leadership, mentorship, and ongoing training to dietary staff. Skills Proven experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry with a focus on dietary services. Strong culinary skills with experience in food preparation, cooking, and meal service for geriatric or special needs populations. Knowledge of food safety standards including sanitation, JCAHO compliance, and proper food handling procedures. Excellent time management skills to coordinate meal schedules efficiently while managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work effectively with geriatric patients and understand their unique nutritional needs. Experience with inventory control, food production processes, and kitchen sanitation practices. Strong communication skills for training staff and collaborating with healthcare teams on dietary requirements. Familiarity with CPR certification and the use of PPE to ensure workplace safety at all times.
