NEWCIRCLE
at Hanover, a branch of Birmingham AIDS Outreach, is to provide residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient care for individuals with eating disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions through compassionate, comprehensive mental health services within an LGBTQ affirming environment. Job Purpose The Registered Dietitian is responsible for developing meal plans, conducting nutritional assessments, and conducting dietary groups and sessions for a caseload of program clients. The Registered Dietitian collaborates with Magic City Wellness Center Director and Magic City Wellness Center at Hanover Director of Operations to assure internal quality care, state licensing, and compliance with Joint Commission Standards and Accreditation Process. Duties and Responsibilities Provide consultation with appropriate staff in screening client applications for the treatment program(s) based on nutritional status and making appropriate recommendations accordingly. Complete initial nutritional assessments with each new client including diet history, dietary preferences, weights, nutritional risk, and eating disorder behaviors. Develop and update individualized meal plans and nutrition care plans in alignment with treatment goals. Set and monitor weight goals with the treatment team. Provide ongoing nutrition counseling and meal-related education to clients and families. Lead individual nutrition sessions weekly (or twice weekly as needed) and conduct psychoeducational groups, cooking sessions, and gentle movement/physical activity groups. Support clients through supervised meals/snacks and food exposures; monitor portioning and meal compliance Educate clients on grocery shopping, meal prep, and nutrition recovery tools. Attend and contribute to weekly multidisciplinary treatment team meetings Communicate with physicians, therapists, and nursing staff to coordinate and adjust nutrition interventions. Collaborate with outpatient dietitians and coordinated nutrition-related aftercare plans. Write and update diet orders, supplements, and protocol adjustments in accordance with physician oversight. Provide proper documentation and charting ensuring that all documentation is completed in a timely manner. Approve menus and snacks for the clients and ensure that the quality and quantity of food is adequate. Work closely with the dietary care specialist team in meal planning for clients including food preferences and allergens. Set up aftercare as it pertains to nutrition. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications. Participate in weekly treatment team meetings to ensure consistent and effective communication including proper oversight of client progress and ensure a team approach is being utilized. Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards clients always. When client needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognizing that patient safety is a top priority. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree with appropriate emphasis and completed accredited dietetic internship. Completion of accredited dietetic internship and RD credential (or RD-eligible within 3 months) At least 1 year of experience in clinical nutrition counseling required; eating disorder experience strongly preferred Working knowledge of HAES principles, trauma-informed care, and LGBTQIA+ affirming practices preferred Maintains up-to-date, applicable State of Alabama and/or National licenses or certifications. Thorough knowledge of nutrition and dietary interventions in the mental health field, preferred. Knowledge of and experience with The Joint Commission Standards and Accreditation Process, preferred. Excellent communication and documentation skills Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team Physical Requirements Must be able to move throughout the clinic property during shifts.
