THE POSITION

The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is offering an excellent career opportunity for qualified individuals interested in a Temporary Nutrition Assistant position. There are currently two (2) temporary vacancies in the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center located in Martinez, CA. Nutrition Assistants participate and assist in patient nutritional care services in an acute care hospital; relieve Registered Dietitians of certain routine aspects of the nutritional services program and may perform dietary-related tasks. We are looking for someone who is: A strong communicator . You will be responsible for communicating (both written and verbally) relevant nutrition Customer Oriented. You will need to be respectful, empathetic, compassionate, and engaged when interacting with patients. Trustworthy. You will be expected to display honesty, adhere to principles, and be personally accountable. A team player. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with individuals within the nutrition department Knowledgeable. You will be responsible for providing patients with accurate meals/menus based on their food preferences, allergies/intolerances and medical nutrition therapy prescribed diets. What you will typically be responsible for: Performing patient visitations to determine food preferences, confirm food allergies and intolerances and inform patients of what is available on their prescribed diet Answering phones using phone etiquette Working with computers, data collection, and electronic health records Write patient menus daily to adjust for food preferences, allergies/intolerances and requests from dietitians, nurses and other providers. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Possession of either 1) an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college or university with a major in food science, nutrition, home economics, dietetics, social work, public health or a closely related field, 2) completion of a dietetic technician program from an accredited college or university, 3) completion of a Didactic Program in Dietetics approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), All applicants include official or unofficial college or university transcripts, or a copy of their degree. Applicants who have attended a foreign or non-U.S. accredited university or college must provide proof of education evaluation completed by a service affiliated with the National Association of Credentials Evaluation Services (NACES) with transcripts. All supporting documents must be scanned and attached to application at the time of submission.

CONVICTION HISTORY

DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
