June 2026 Summary of Major Functions:
Oversee and implement all aspects of nutrition care and provide nutritional counseling to patients across all levels of care. In addition to direct patient care responsibilities, the Senior/Lead Registered Dietitian serves as a clinical resource for Nutrition Services through staff training, curriculum development, professional supervision, and operational leadership support to promote program consistency, staff development, and excellence in patient care. Senior Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership & Department Support Serve as point person for Nutrition Services when Director is out on PTO Provide leadership presence and support on the residential floor Assist with overflow patient caseload support as needed Support consistency and accountability surrounding meal and snack processes Training & Staff Development Develop and oversee a formalized Meal Therapy Training Program for residential staff Lead training and onboarding related to: Meal facilitation Boosting protocols Charting/documentation expectations Residential mealtime processes Provide ongoing meal support coaching and education for staff Assist in development of a comprehensive Nutrition Services onboarding/training manual Curriculum Development & Program Consistency Develop and maintain nutrition curriculum across levels of care Differentiate residential nutrition programming from PHP/IOP programming Organize and streamline curriculum resources within Teams folders Support standardization and consistency across sites Clinical Supervision & Retention Support Provide CEDS supervision for identified RDs pursuing certification Increase internal professional development opportunities Support retention of clinicians seeking advanced specialization RD Duties and Responsibilities:
Completes thorough nutritional assessment within 48 hours. Manages scheduling for follow up sessions, holding weekly sessions and completing adjoining charting. Creates an individualized nutrition treatment plan with appropriate goals and objectives. Develops meal plans demonstrating diversity and meeting the nutritional needs of the patient. Demonstrates knowledge of food service regulations and environmental risks while enforcing regulatory requirements. Demonstrates knowledge of and practice of clinical interviewing/counseling skills. Demonstrates ability to build therapeutic rapport. Facilitates educational and nutritional groups with expertise, demonstrating ability to engage, set limits and monitor the group process. Timely completion and accuracy of assigned paperwork: assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, group notes, etc. Provide continuity of care; communicating with outpatient RD's within 48 hours of patient's initial assessment, throughout stay as decided between ED Care/Outpatient team, and prior to discharge. Provide culinary coverage as scheduled:
planning, preparing, portioning, and serving of meals. Verifying allergens and specific dietary needs. Stays current in expectations and practices guidelines set out by ED Care as they are updated. Provides supervision to dietary interns and utilizes support resources to ensure outstanding quality of dietary services. Providing nutritional outpatient counseling services, balancing time spent in OP with other Job responsibilities, if requested. When treating Outpatients, makes referrals to other providers/resources as indicated, including psychiatrist, individual therapist, Primary Care Provider, family therapist, group etc. When internal using internal referral form Facilitate meal therapy with patients including processing and documentation, if needed. Actively participate in multidisciplinary team, providing input on patient care and attending staffing meetings. Work with Program Director to assess the effectiveness of existing program and provide input. Other job duties as assigned. Other Responsibilities:
Maintain schedule (time off, etc.) that provides appropriate staffing coverage. Demonstrate effective communication by checking and responding to email and calls within a timely manner. Comply with all regulatory and accreditation requirements for the clinical services and food production services. This includes but is not necessarily limited to HIPAA, The Joint Commission and federal, state and/or local health departments. Physical Demands and Environment:
Sitting frequently, standing occasionally, walking occasionally, talking frequently, hearing frequently, seeing constantly, reaching with arms and hands occasionally, crouching occasionally and using fingers intricately. This position requires lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds occasionally and lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds rarely. Environmental conditions of this job include but are NOT limited to: 99% inside, 99% normal temperature and 99% normal noise as expected in a medical office environment. Bachelor's degree in Nutrition required, Masters Degree preferred. Registered Dietitian or RD eligible, passing RD exam within 90 days of hire required. 5+ years of of working primarily in an eating disorder treatment facility required. CPR Certification within 90 days of hire required. Experience working individually and in groups preferably with eating disordered patients. Clinical conceptualization of the treatment of eating disorders and dual diagnosis preferred. Good oral and written communication skills preferred. Computer Skills:
Must be able to effectively maneuver within an office scheduling system. Minimum of beginner skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Intermediate skills are required with Microsoft Outlook. Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within an electronic medical records system.
