Job Description

Performs paraprofessional, client service, and clerical work related to public health nutrition in delivering Supplemental Food and Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program services to clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.) Oversees and maintains a caseload of clients participating in the WIC program. Conducts client orientations on WIC procedures individually or in groups. Issues WIC checks on a one- to three-month schedule. Schedules client appointments consistent with the issuance of WIC checks and with the appropriate amount of allotted time based on appointment type. Conducts anthropometric measurements with no supervision needed. Sets client-centered goals and provides ongoing breastfeeding and nutrition education as specified by nutrition education checklist or as directed by the clinic Registered Dietitian. Performs general clerical duties such as filing, typing, and answering phones in support of daily WIC functions. Maintains WIC files and records. Submits standard WIC forms and reports per state requirements and mandates. Consults with the appropriate WIC clinic staff regarding client status, changes in status, medical problems, and related issues. Refers high-risk clients to the WIC RD/High Risk. Makes referrals to services or outside agencies as appropriate for health care, food banks, Medicaid, and social services assistance. Participate in WIC outreach activities and client special events. EXPERIENCE
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year of experience as a WIC Educator or related work experience. Ability to meet WIC I, II and III competencies. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS
Must pass all modules of State WIC Certification and WIC Learning Online Modules with a score of 90% or above within required timeframes - Level I within three months of hire, Level II within six months of hire, and Level III within nine months of hire. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred. This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check including fingerprinting through a national database. Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License upon hire, with complying insurance. Review of motor vehicle record is required at time of hire and periodically throughout employment.
