Dietetics Registered Dietitian Full Job Description Summary:
This position provides direct clinical medical nutrition therapy to patients, including assessment, dietary counseling, and education, as part of a collaborative care team at MKC. This team member will work closely with interdisciplinary members of the patient's care team in a patient-centered approach to chronic disease management. May specialize in a specific type of clinical care, e.g., renal disease, endocrinology, geriatrics. Job Responsibilities Conduct nutrition consultations and follow-ups. Assess patient knowledge of diet and chronic kidney disease to provide tailored nutrition, lifestyle, and goal-setting advice. Develop and adjust thorough, cost-efficient, and patient-specific meal plans to meet nutritional goals. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the clinic's EHR including assessments, diagnoses, interventions, and monitoring. Partner with MKC providers and the patient's care team to manage acute and long-term medical nutrition needs. Act as a clinical consultant in areas of specialty. Participate in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, and quality improvement activities. Maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA). Create and review patient education materials. Participate in community outreach, presentations, and MKC initiatives as requested. Assist with patient scheduling, service follow-ups, and attend required staff meetings. Participate in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guideline development, and other continuing education and quality assurance activities to demonstrate compliance with standards, regulations, policies, and procedures. Knowledge and Skills Medical nutrition therapy, medical terminology, and nutrition billing guidelines. Professional nutrition theories, evidence-based practices, and clinical regulations. Health promotion, risk identification, and patient education techniques. Knowledge of community, professional, and educational resources. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication, including motivational interviewing. Effective time management, multitasking, and clinical problem-solving. Developing accessible patient education materials and clear nutritional care plans. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and team members. Education/Licensure Requirements Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics Registered Dietitian (RD) as per Commission on Dietetic Registration Licensed Dietician (LD) in good standing with the State of Hawaii Experience 2 years of professional nutritional therapy experience in a clinical setting. 5 years preferred. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Proficiency with EHR and practice management systems Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card preferred.
Physical/Mental Demands:
Varied activities, including standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting. Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment. Occasionally lifting and carrying files up to 50 pounds. May require working under stressful conditions.
Equipment Operated:
Standard medical examination room equipment and instruments. Using computer/health information management system.
Work Environment:
Combination of exam rooms and medical offices. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
