Nutrition Coordinator Reports to:
Nutrition Director & Director of Operations Part Time Salary :
DOE Position Description:
The Part-Time Nutrition Coordinator will assist the Nutrition Director in overseeing the nutrition-related programs and services offered to youth members of the Boys & Girls Club of Magic Valley. This position is responsible for supporting the planning and delivery of healthy meals, snacks, and nutrition education to youth in alignment with USDA guidelines. The Nutrition Coordinator will play an integral role in ensuring youth members receive nutritious food and participate in engaging nutrition education activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Meal Planning & Food Service Support
  • Assist with the preparation, serving, and distribution of nutritious snacks and meals in accordance with the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines.
  • Monitor food inventory and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Ensure food safety standards are maintained, including proper food storage, handling, and cleanliness. 2. Nutrition Education & Program Support
  • Support the development and delivery of nutrition education activities, workshops, and resources for youth members.
  • Engage youth in interactive nutrition lessons, cooking demonstrations, and discussions about healthy eating habits.
  • Assist in integrating nutrition topics into other Boys & Girls Club programs to reinforce healthy habits. 3. Staff Assistance & Training
  • Provide support to staff and volunteers on proper meal preparation and nutrition-related tasks.
  • Assist the Nutrition Director in training staff on food safety, nutrition basics, and fostering a healthy eating environment for youth. 4. Compliance & Recordkeeping
  • Help ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding food service programs.
  • Maintain accurate records for meal counts, inventory, and any required documentation for CACFP, SFSP, or other food-related programs. 5. Special Events & Community Engagement
  • Assist in planning and facilitating special events related to nutrition and wellness, such as healthy eating workshops, cooking classes, and family nutrition nights.
  • Help coordinate partnerships with local food providers, nutritionists, or community organizations to enhance nutrition programming. 6. Program Evaluation & Feedback
  • Collect feedback from youth, families, and staff on the effectiveness of nutrition programs and suggest improvements.
  • Assist in tracking the impact of nutrition programs on the health and well-being of youth participants.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in food service, nutrition education, or working with children/youth in community programs preferred.
  • Experience with USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) or similar food assistance programs is a plus, but not required. Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic nutrition principles, food safety, and healthy eating habits.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage and educate youth in an engaging manner.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and under the direction of the Nutrition Director.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with children, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds (e.g., food, supplies).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and move around the kitchen or program areas.
  • Some physical activity required for meal preparation, serving, and organizing materials.
Work Schedule:
  • This is a part-time position with flexible hours, including afternoons and early evenings, based on program needs.
  • Hours may vary depending on meal service times, special events, and program schedules.
