WIC Nutritionist Compensation (Based on experience and qualifications)

  • 4:30pm We are looking for a passionate and dedicated WIC Nutritionist to join our team.
As a WIC Nutritionist, you will be responsible for providing nutritional education and guidance to pregnant, post-partum, and breast-feeding women, infants, and children up to five years old. You will help families in need of government assistance to create properly balanced diets that take cultural modifications into account.
Responsibilities:
The Nutritionist will conduct a client intake, determine current diet and compare that against the ideal nutritional requirements for all family members. After assessing their needs, along with their deficiencies and excesses, the nutritionist will often make a plan to improve their regimen. The nutritionist will monitor client dietary progress and ensure families are properly utilizing their benefits to meet their nutritional needs. Performs program eligibility and nutritional assessment for individual clients. Client services include nutritional counseling, determination of supplemental food packages according to clients' individual risk factors and promotion of breastfeeding. Provides individual and group education in nutrition, breastfeeding and health issues. Nutritionist will attend special events, including health fairs, to raise public awareness about the program as well as health and nutrition issues. Obtains education materials and development of education and outreach initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or related field Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) certification Knowledge of WIC program policies and procedures Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to work well in a team environment If you are passionate about helping families in need to create healthy and balanced diets, we encourage you to apply for this position. Requirements:
Education and Experience A minimum of a Bachelors degree in nutrition or related field required. Masters degree preferred. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) certification. Minimum of two years of experience in nutritional counseling. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting. Ability to maintain effective and professional relationships with patients and other members of the care team. Experience in working with a diverse population base preferred. Ability to appropriately handle confrontation and conflict. Ability to work independently and to seek consultation as necessary. Ability to follow organization and departmental processes and procedures. Ability to work in a high stress/fast paced/high work volume environment.
