Maintenance of the RD credential and Louisiana licensure is required to perform functions of work, per USDA federal program regulations. These statewide responsibilities are an inherent and ongoing part of the job and may require frequent travel. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:
Direct and manage regional WIC and nutrition services by implementing state policies, ensuring compliance with USDA regulations, monitoring program quality, and overseeing participant access to high-quality nutrition services. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate Public Health Nutritionists, Health Educators, Nutrition Educators, and contract staff by managing performance, approving personnel actions, coordinating training, and fostering staff development and retention. Lead regional strategic planning by assessing community nutrition needs, identifying service gaps, developing outreach initiatives, and implementing quality improvement strategies to enhance health outcomes for women, infants, and children. Serve as the primary liaison between the Louisiana Bureau of Nutrition Services/WIC State Agency and regional staff by interpreting policies, communicating program updates, coordinating management evaluations, and providing expert guidance on nutrition services. Build and maintain partnerships with healthcare providers, community organizations, and public health programs to expand nutrition education, strengthen referral networks, promote breastfeeding, and coordinate nutrition services during disaster response efforts. Oversee regional program operations by monitoring staffing contracts, budgets, payroll, travel expenditures, required reports, clinic workflows, and operational performance to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. Provide advanced clinical and technical expertise by serving as a subject matter expert in maternal and child nutrition and breastfeeding, supervising provisional staff and dietetic interns, reviewing clinical documentation, and delivering high-risk nutrition counseling and case management as needed.
