Job Description

At Johns Hopkins Community Physicians (JHCP), we bring Johns Hopkins Medicine to our communities. You don't have to travel far to find your next great opportunity! We are looking for a Diabetes Educator Certified (Dietitian) for Central Nursing. Under general supervision, assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates several components of the diabetes education program at the diabetes and endocrine practice. Also serves as the diabetes nutritionists for patient education. Plans and conducts continuing education programs in diabetes and nutrition for allied professionals and the general public. Diabetes Educator will provide diabetes education to patients and their families in an outpatient setting. The educator will respond to phone calls from parents of newly diagnosed children and adolescents with diabetes and provide education to help bridge the transition from inpatient to outpatient diabetes care. The educator will respond to phone calls regarding sick day management and day-to-day type 1 and type 2 diabetes concerns. What awaits you! 1000 E. Eager Street, Baltimore, MD 21202 What You'll Need to be
Successful:
A Bachelor's degree in Dietetics. Current license or registration in specific allied health profession (e.g. Registered Dietician) required. Must obtain Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) within 1 year of employment. Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnosis, and basic disease processes. Analytical ability required to gather data, decide on conformity based on predetermined criteria, identify problems and refer for resolution. Basic knowledge of medical records coding standards. Awareness of licensing and accreditation standards. Knowledge of MS PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of relational EMR data documentation, ability to conduct research of issue at hand, as well as formulate recommendations based on findings Requires a minimum of 2 years' experience.
Salary Range:
Minimum 34.62/hour - Maximum 57.19/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
