Full-Time Registered Dietitian/Clinic Supervisor REPORTS:
Director and Assistant Director of Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)CLASSIFICATION
Non- ExemptJOB SUMMARY
The Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist will provide nutrition services to high-risk participants.RESPONSIBILITIES
Providing required services to high-risk clients, as outlined inPolicy:
Providing nutrition education tailored or customized to the identified needs/interests of each high-risk participant. Developing individual care plans for high-risk participants. Prescribing food packages to high-risk participants, as appropriate. Approving Class III formula packages, as needed. Referring high-risk participants to other health-related and social services, as necessary. Documenting referrals and appropriate follow-up to referrals for high-risk participants. Tracking high-risk participants' progress and documenting outcomes. Participate in the WIC Conference, webcasts, and trainings, to improve nutrition and program services, as appropriate. Participates in RD meetings, WIC staff meetings, in-service trainings, and State required trainings. Provide counseling and develop care plans for WIC high-risk participants according toMDHHS WIC
high-risk policy. Documents follow up counseling using MI-WIC policies and procedures. Assures WIC participants that are identified as high risk are referred to the Registered Dietitian (RD) for nutrition services. Resolves client complaints and problems in the WIC clinic, documents incidents as necessary and conducts investigations as directed. Performs WIC certification, recertification, infant evaluations, child evaluations, and other WIC related duties as necessary. Oversees job performances and reviews of the Competent Professional Authority (CPA) and the Program Assistant/Clerk (PA). Provides training to WIC staff when necessary. Assists in informing and implementing all WIC staff on policy/procedure changes as directed by the WIC Director and Assistant Director. Reviews nutrition education materials and screens professionally developed materials for appropriateness and accuracy. Oversees the maintenance of WIC records and logs. Makes referrals to other disciplines and outside agencies for clients as indicated. Provide breastfeeding education and support to WIC participants. Reviews food formula request forms for specialty formula approval following local agency and MI-WIC policy and procedures. Performs biochemical procedures, if applicable, using universal precautions. Logs data into computer system per policy. May perform other tasks as assigned in order to meet agency deadlines and objectives.QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
RD/RDN credential -- Such registration must be maintained throughout employment in this position.EXPERIENCE
Broad knowledge of nutrition needs related to growth and development for pregnant, breastfeeding and non-lactating postpartum women, infants and children through age five. Ability to work efficiently and effectively under time constraints. Possess good written and communication/telephone skills and computer proficiency. Possess good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with other healthcare professionals, Urban League of Detroit & Southeastern Michigan staff and the public.OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
Must have reliable transportation, valid drivers' license and proof of automobile insurance. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and meet required deadlines. Will be required to work evening hours on some days during the week. Will be required to work some assigned Saturdays throughout the year.WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works primarily indoors. Travel may be required to Urban League of Detroit & Southeastern Michigan offices and other WIC Program sites with exposure to road hazards and temperature extremes.Job Type:
