CLINICAL NUTRITIONAL SPECIALIST JOB SUMMARY
Provides consultant dietitian services for assigned nursing centers. Completes nutritional assessments for residents. Reviews residents at nutritional risk (significant weight change, wounds, enteral feedings, dialysis residents, etc.) Completes electronic chart (progress notes & assessments) documentation as necessary. Provides strategies for nutrition interventions as necessary. Communicates care plan issues and recommendations to Dietary Services Director and/or IDT. Follows up on previous recommendations. Conducts periodic Chart reviews as assigned. Conducts QA audits of kitchen; quarterly or as necessary. Assists department director in preparation for regulatory inspections. Monitors accuracy of diet and supplement orders. Assists with fluid restriction orders as necessary. Assists with calorie counts as ordered. Assists the Dietary Services Director with processes to evaluate changes in resident's nutritional status. Assists the Dietary Service Director with food service issues to include staffing; budgetary compliance; food production techniques, etc. Provides Nursing Center and Sr. Nutrition Services Coordinator with reports as requested. Works with other departments as needed to improve Quality of Care and/or to improve the process in which we conduct business. Assist with orientation of new Dietary Service Managers. Conducts in-service education programs as required. As necessary, precepts Managers enrolled in Certified Dietary Manager Training programs. Maintains hour's allocation and mileage logs as required. Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be a Registered Dietitian, licensed in the state of employment Must have a current, valid registration from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and complete CEUs to maintain registration. Must be dependable, flexible, and able to work and cooperate well with the Dietary Services Director and Nursing Center Staff and have understanding, patience, and tact in working with patients, families, doctors, and others. Documented expertise in the areas of nutritional assessment and ability to identify nutritional risk for residents in compliance with regulations. Must have ability to make decisions regarding nutritional status of residents within scope of practice. Must be able to teach, instruct and direct continuing education, in-services as needed. Must read, know, and follow personnel, department and Facility policies and procedures and adhere to local, state, and federal requirements. Must have working knowledge of the rules and regulations related to Skilled Nursing & Rehab Facilities. Must have Long Term Care experience. Experience with electronic medical record preferred. Must have neat professional appearance at all times.
