Job Description

Southtowns Care Center is currently seeking a resident-focused Dietician Technician to join our culinary staff. The (DT) will assist the Registered Dietitian to provide medical nutrition therapies for our clients. The DT will continuously monitor each patient's nutrition care plans and serve as part of the patient care team to create an environment of dietetic excellence for our clients.
Responsibilities:
Interviews all new admissions for a dietary history and records all information. Writes monthly progress notes on appropriate residents' and ensures that care plans are implemented. Evaluates effectiveness of dietary interventions. Monitors meal intakes on all residents and calculates food intakes when necessary. Consults with the Registered Dietician. Verifies physician diet orders or changes and documents in the medical record. Maintains records under the direct guidance and direction of the Dietician to include: patient/resident progress notes, transfer/discharge summaries, monitoring of lab work, weights, skin integrity, intake studies, and meal plan updates. continually counsels and educates the patients/residents, family members, facility personnel or proper therapeutic and basic nutrition in conjunction with the Registered Dietician. evaluates diet histories and reviews nourishment and supplement records develops, reviews, and updates comprehensive care plans on a continual basis to reflect the current needs of the patient/resident. maintains weight records supervises/observes resident meal service in a timely and appropriate manner to provide high quality dietary service to patients/residents. Monitors breakfast, dinner, and supper meal consumption and consistency appropriateness. monitors tube feeding documentation records with Dietician makes appropriate referrals to OT, Speech Therapist, Dentist, and Nursing. all other duties assigned by the Registered Dietician.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to long-term care dietary requirements. Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality. Ability to follow written and oral directions. Ability to work independently. Possess the ability to communicate effectively and deal tactfully with personnel, residents, families, and visitors.
