GENESIS HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

Food and Nutrition Overview of Position:
Responsible for nutrition counseling, nutritional care plans, nutritional assessment, and nutrition education programs for a diverse population.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1.
Assess nutritional needs of patients and complete nutritional plans of cares for patients. 2. Screen and assess patients for nutritional risk. 3. Complete diet and food drug interaction instructions. 4. Attend Care Conferences to address patient's nutritional needs. 5. Document nutritional needs of high-risk patients in a timely manner including holidays and weekends. 6. Maintains privacy and confidentiality at all times. 7. Participates in mandatory in-service meetings (e.g. TB testing, safety, HIPAA).
QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Registered Dietician, licensed in the state of Ohio. 2. Prior clinical experience required. 3. Knowledge of food preparation, food safety and sanitation practices. 4. Prior experience teaching and counseling nutrition therapy required. 5. Excellent written and verbal presentation skills with ability to explain moderately detailed information to a diverse population. 6. Able to accurately take and record measurements and readings. 7. Excellent organizational skills. 8. Successful completion of the R.D. exam is required within 7 months of application for Limited Permit status in the State of Ohio.

  • Demonstrates safe Patient Handling (i.e. transfers, transport, care administration, nutrition, medication, etc.)
  • Demonstrates safe Materials Handling (i.e. appropriate use and disposal of chemicals, infectious wastes, etc.)
  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of Infectious Disease precautions and use of proper protective equipment
  • Demonstrates Slips/Trips and Falls Awareness.
  • Actively contributes to maintaining a safe, clean and quiet environment.
