We're seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Registered Dietitian (RD) to join our culinary team. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on clinical nutrition leader who values teamwork, regulatory excellence, and the power of individualized nutrition to enhance residents' quality of life. About the Role As the Registered Dietitian , you will be responsible for managing the facility's nutrition and dietary programs in compliance with federal, state, and company regulations. You'll assess residents' nutritional needs, develop individualized care plans, oversee therapeutic diets, and collaborate closely with nursing, therapy, and culinary teams to ensure optimal nutritional outcomes and resident satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Clinical Nutrition & Care Planning Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments for new admissions, readmissions, and residents with significant changes of condition. Develop and maintain individualized nutrition care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Monitor residents' weight trends, lab values, hydration status, and intake to identify and address nutritional risks. Provide recommendations for therapeutic diets, texture modifications, and supplementation. Document all nutrition assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with CMS and state regulations. Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance Ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines (CMS, OBRA, and state survey standards) related to nutrition and dietary services. Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives related to nutrition and dining services. Conduct regular audits of meal service, sanitation, and documentation practices to ensure survey readiness. Assist with survey preparation and respond to nutrition-related citations or corrective action plans. Collaboration & Team Leadership Partner with the Culinary Manager to develop menus that meet nutritional guidelines, resident preferences, and cultural needs. Train and educate dietary and nursing staff on nutrition protocols, therapeutic diets, and safe food handling. Provide leadership and consultation for the interdisciplinary team on nutrition-related topics and best practices. Participate in care conferences, morning stand-up meetings, and leadership team discussions. Resident & Family Engagement Communicate regularly with residents and families to discuss dietary preferences, nutritional goals, and satisfaction. Promote a warm, resident-centered dining experience that prioritizes dignity, comfort, and choice. Qualifications Current Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) license in the State of Oregon required. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field required. Minimum of 2 years of clinical nutrition experience, preferably in a skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation, or long-term care setting. Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, RAI process, and MDS Section K documentation. Experience developing and managing therapeutic diets, including diabetic, renal, cardiac, and texture-modified diets. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to educate, influence, and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams. Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) documentation and Microsoft Office Suite. ServSafe Certification or Food Protection Manager credential preferred. Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or previous food service management experience a plus.
