  • Responsibilities
  • Provides quality nutritional care to patients such as the development, implementation and monitoring of Medical Nutrition Therapy.
Works collaboratively, serves as a nutritional resource, and provides nutritional education to the NTR transdisciplinary team, patients, and families to ensure implement nutrition care plans and maintain departmental standards. + Perform nutrition assessments and re-assessments, identifies nutrition goals and interventions, monitors and evaluates patientprogress as needed. Provides clear and concise medical record documentation + Monitor enteral nutrition support regimens as needed in conjunction with pharmacy and the medical staff. + Collaborates with Speech Therapy regarding diet progression and transitional feeding to meet nutritional needs. + Consider religious, cultural and ethnic factors in development of nutrition care plans. + Evaluate potential food/drug interactions, and/or herb/supplement interactions. Provides nutrition education/counseling as appropriate + Serves as a consultant to develop and implement educational programs for patients and staff. Works with the patient and familyto identify educational needs, achievable goals and provides patient education. Serves as a resource to the NTR transdisciplinary team regarding evidence-based nutrition practice + Serve as a resource to the NTR transdisciplinary team to assure the nutritional goals are implemented. Advises the team regarding any special preparation techniques to be used for modified diets + Participate in developing, planning and standardizing menus. + Reviews and approves general and therapeutic menus. Reviews and approves menu substitutions. Keeps current with nutritional practices and theories. Maintains current professional registration requirements (i.e., Professional Portfolio, self-development and continuing education). + Demonstrates interest in continuing education, academics or specialized certification to further enhance professional skills + Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • + Current state licensure/certification, if required by state. + Current registration by the Commission on Dietetics Registration required.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • + One (1) year of work experience in a facility setting with clinical responsibilities or equivalent preferred
