YesPosition SummaryThe Assistant Manager of Nutrition supports the Nutrition team in advancing nutrition and food safety initiatives that promote health and food security within The Greater Boston Food Bank Takeda Center for Community Health and Nutrition and its network of Agency Partners. This role leads the development of nutrition education resources, supports implementation of GBFBs Nutrition Policy, and manages the growth and optimization of online nutrition tools for both the public and GBFBs Agency Partner network. The role contributes to GBFBs broader Food as Health strategy by supporting integration of nutrition across community programs, health care partnerships, and agency capacity-building efforts. The position also contributes to nutrition-related programs and trainings and supports broader departmental priorities as needed, ensuring continuity of core nutrition operations and the ability to adapt programing in response to evolving community needs, funding landscapes, and organizational priorities.

This role contributes to a broader movement to ensure that everyone in our communities has consistent, equitable access to nutritious food, and that our nutrition programs and supports are centered on the needs of people experiencing hunger. The Assistant Manager of Nutrition plays a key role in advancing this work alongside Agency Partners, healthcare collaborators, and neighbors, helping to build systems that are not only effective, but also rooted in dignity, community connection, cultural awareness, and our shared humanity.

Role & ResponsibilitiesSupport implementation of health and nutrition-related activities for GBFBs agency network.

Lead nutrition analysis of incoming inventory utilizing the SWAP ranking system.

Execute food safety courses for GBFB staff and Agency Partners.

Leverage Salesforce to ensure Agency Partner food safety training compliance.

Assist the Senior Manager of Nutrition in content creation for GBFBs culturally responsive initiative work and learning management system as needed.

Lead and assist with implementation of nutrition initiatives within GBFBs agency network as needed, including supporting partner capacity-building and alignment with GBFB nutrition standards and equity-centered practices.

Collaborate with Senior Manager of Nutrition on managing Click N Cook, and similar projects. Tasks include sourcing and editing recipes, identifying photos, and creating blog content.

Support nutrition initiatives providing programmatic and operational support across nutrition and Food as Health initiatives (e.g. medically tailored food boxes, produce-based interventions, and other emerging models.), including client engagement, documentation and development of culturally responsive, person-centered nutrition education models.

Maintain current knowledge of research and best practices in the areas of nutrition and food safety, cultural humility, solidarity with people experiencing hunger, and the social drivers of health.

Provide cross-functional nutrition coverage to maintain consistent program delivery.

Perform all other related tasks assigned.

Skills & Qualifications Bachelors or masters degree in nutrition, public health, or related field required.

Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) and active Massachusetts state (LDN) licensure preferred.

At least 1 year of experience working in non-profit/anti-hunger/public health sector.

At least 1 year of experience working with diverse populations, age ranges, and group sizes in a friendly and respectful manner, with a demonstrated commitment to equity and person-centered engagement.

Experience with food service or recipe development preferred.

Bilingual in Spanish preferred, additional language fluency enthusiastically encouraged.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

Highly efficient in managing time and coordinating multiple responsibilities.

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrates the required digital competencies that result in the effective usage of the full range of digital technologies at GBFB.ServSafe Manager Certification or ability to complete within 3 months of hire.

Valid drivers license and access to personal vehicle; and willingness to travel within the GBFB Eastern MA service area preferred. This role follows a hybrid schedule working in accordance with GBFBs hybrid work policy on the teams designated days. This schedule is subject to change based on the organizations mission to end hunger.
