Job Description

Sweetwater Hospital Association is seeking a Registered Dietitian on a PRN (per diem) basis to support the nutritional care needs of our inpatient population. The PRN Registered Dietitian provides direct clinical dietetic services to SHA inpatients through remote or on-site assessment and delivers administrative dietetic services as required by regulatory standards or organizational request. This flexible role is integral to maintaining the quality of nutrition care and operational compliance at SHA.
Scope of Services:
The Registered Dietitian will provide the following services on behalf of
Sweetwater Hospital Association:
Clinical Services:
Provide comprehensive dietetic services to SHA inpatients via remote telehealth assessment or on-site evaluation, as determined by patient need and operational requirements Develop and implement individualized Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) plans in collaboration with the attending physician and care team Screen patients for malnutrition risk and initiate appropriate nutrition interventions per facility protocol Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients and families as clinically indicated Document all assessments, care plans, interventions, and follow-up note accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR)
Administrative Dietetic Services:
Conduct periodic review of nutrition-related policies and procedures to ensure alignment with current regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and evidence-based practice Perform periodic patient care menu reviews to assess nutritional adequacy, therapeutic diet compliance, and patient satisfaction Participate in policy development, revision, and approval processes as requested by SHA administration Assist with the preparation of dietetic-related documentation for surveys, audits, and accreditation reviews Provide other dietetic services as needed to support SHA's operational and clinical goals.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field from an ACEND-accredited program Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) — RD or RDN credential required and must remain in good standing Current Tennessee state licensure as a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (or eligibility to obtain prior to start) Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in an acute care or inpatient hospital setting Experience with or ability to perform remote/telehealth nutrition assessments Working knowledge of hospital nutrition policy, therapeutic diets, and patient care menu standards Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) documentation systems Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
