Position Specific Essential Functions Establishes and maintains an effective program for patient screening. Accurately calculates protein and calorie requirements. Nutrition care meets cultural, religious, regional and other special needs. Accurate, timely and thorough nutrition documentation in medical records which adheres to procedures. Collects assessment data for patients on enteral nutrition according to established protocol. Recommends standardized macronutrient/energy prescriptions and standard formula for enteral nutrition support. On physician consult request, able to write orders for enteral nutrition support. Assist in review of interdisciplinary clinical protocols for enteral nutrition support. Collect patient assessment data relevant to parenteral nutrition prescriptions to established protocol and plan for parenteral when appropriate. When appropriate, recommends standardized macronutrient/energy prescriptions for parenteral nutrition support of individuals. Recommends nonstandard parenteral nutrition support prescriptions based on metabolic alterations. Evaluates dietetic services; provides and gives regular input regarding efficiency of patient food service; assembly, temperature, taste, appearance, distribution and accuracy of trays. Assists in implementing and monitoring the patient menu program, recipe compliance, recipe/menu analysis, production sheet compliance, policies, procedures, guidelines, nutrition education material, job descriptions, and competencies. Appropriately incorporates knowledge of modified diets, cooking/preparation methods, food composition and local market availability in education sessions. Enhances education with specialized material, websites, visuals, or food models as appropriate. Documents education in the medical records according to procedure. Consistently conveys that customers are the highest priority. Respects customer needs and expectations and lets customers know if their expectations cannot be met. Refrains from complaining about (or speaking negatively about) customer behavior or expectations. Communicates in a manner that promotes and sustains customer satisfaction and encourages others to do the same. Achieves these outcomes by ensuring that customer needs and deadlines are realistic and that they are met. Publicly recognizes those who deliver excellent customer service. This is markedly different than those who speak unkindly about customers, fail to inform customers about any unrealistic expectations, complain about customer expectations, and fail to recognize or reward those who think and behave otherwise. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Required High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or related fieldExperience:
Preferred One or more years of experience in Clinical nutritionCertification/Licensure:
