Summary:
Provide competent nutritional care to patients through nutritional assessment, diagnosis, interventions, monitoring, and evaluation of outcomes. Active participant in the interdisciplinary team. Works well in a fast-paced clinical setting. Communicates information effectively to providers, families, and patients in a developmentally appropriate manner. Ensures nutritional information reflects evidenced based practice. Provides training and development to interns, dietitians, and medical staff.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide medical nutrition therapy through nutrition assessment, diagnosis, interventions, monitoring and evaluation of outcomes for patients
  • May write nutrition orders per medical nutrition therapy protocol
  • Calculate formula recipes for hospital and discharge. Create formula lab and home recipes utilizing hand calculations and electronic application program. Calculate formula concentration and dose additives for hospital and home recipes.
  • Have knowledge of appropriate parenteral nutrition (TPN) management including initiation, advancement, and weaning. Recommend parenteral nutrition macronutrient and micronutrient composition based on disease state.
  • Demonstrate understanding of enteral nutrition feeding types and modalities based on disease state.
Identify appropriate formula type, composition, administration, and schedule for patients in the home and hospital setting.
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • At least 1 year job category-specific experience Preferred
EDUCATION
  • Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Required
  • Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Master's degree with completion of required coursework and supervised practice as dictated by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) for Dietitians graduating after January 2024 Required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • State Dietetic License (i.e. LD - Licensed Dietitian) 90 Days Required
  • National Dietetic Registration (i.e. RD - Registered Dietitian) 90 Days Required
