Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities Utilizes the Nutrition Care Process to perform comprehensive nutritional assessments and reassessments while using age-appropriate standards and validated tools to include nutrition related diagnosis using the eNCP terminology approved by the Academy of Nutrition and dietetics. Respond to consults and nutrition referrals within the established time frame Facility and or based on department policy and patient outcome Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting nutrition interventions as needed Communicate with medical team regarding nutrition intervention or plan of care through verbal, written, or electronic communication Provides nutrition education to patients and families with the patient's preferred learning style/readiness for change/cultural belief Support enteral and parenteral nutrition therapy when applicable and communicate recommendations with the medical team Participate in Hospitalist rounding, interdisciplinary meetings, and/or discharge rounds as needed. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals Communicates and coordinated meals, supplements, and enteral feeding regimen with the FNS staff Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, regulatory standards, and hospital policies Serves as a preceptor for dietetic interns Required Skills/Abilities Bachelor's degree required for candidates who obtained their RDN credential prior to January 1, 2024; Master's degree required for candidates obtaining their RDN credential on or after January 1, 2024. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) credential required, or eligibility to sit for the registration exam within six (6) months of hire. Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LD) credential, or an approved application from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, required within six (6) months of hire and upon obtaining RD/RDN status. Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nutrition experience preferred; at least one (1) year of pediatric nutrition experience preferred. Ability to read, write, and speak English required; Spanish language skills are a plus. Must participate in weekend and holiday on-call coverage on a rotating schedule with other RDN team members.
