Behavioral Health Dietitian Whole-istic Living Georgetown, TX Job Details Part-time | Contract From $33 an hour 15 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Nutrition Management ServSafe Nutrition Motivational interviewing Registered Dietitian Full Job Description Whole-istic Living is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable registered dietitian to join our local nutrition team as a sub-contractor. (Must already be a RDN!) As a Behavioral Health Dietitian, you will be a consultant, supporting individuals with mental health conditions by providing evidence-based nutrition recommendations, counseling, and group education (about 15-20 hours per week total; ideal for moms or retirees seeking flexible, part-time hours). Your expertise in understanding the connection between nutrition and mental health will make a difference in improving the well-being of adults and adolescents navigating a wide array of mental health conditions such as: Depression Anxiety Eating disorders PTSD Bipolar disorder
Schizophrenia Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
Nutrition Assessment and Consultation:
Perform initial nutrition assessments on a timely basis for patients in an outpatient setting, with special dietary needs and/or increased risk of malnutrition, taking into account medical history, nutritional needs, dietary restrictions, dietary preferences and nutrition diagnosis. Provide education and recommend appropriate clinical and behavioral interventions based on assessment. Offer evidence-based medical nutrition therapy recommendations to help promote physical and mental well-being and symptom management.
Group Nutrition Education:
Lead small-group nutrition classes in inpatient and outpatient settings on entry-level nutrition topics that impact mental and physical health. Empower patients with knowledge about the impact of nutrition on mental health and behavior to make informed food choices.
Behavioral Modification and Coaching:
Utilize behavioral change techniques to support patients in adopting and sustaining healthier eating habits. Help patients identify triggers, barriers, and patterns related to their eating behaviors and mental health symptoms. Assist patients in developing strategies for managing emotional eating, stress-related eating, disordered eating, and other behavioral challenges.
Interdisciplinary Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, therapists, social workers, and kitchen staff to integrate medical nutrition therapy into patients' treatment plans. Refer to other health professionals as-needed, when patients need additional support outside our scope of practice. (For example: psychiatrist, therapist, gastrointestinal doctor, etc.)
Documentation and Confidentiality:
Maintain timely, accurate and up-to-date patient records, including nutrition consult completion, nutrition assessments, follow-up notes, and dietary orders/recommendations. Adhere to HIPAA confidentiality guidelines.
Professional Development:
Stay abreast on the latest research in the field of nutrition and mental health. Maintain professional licensure and certifications, as required.
Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition/Dietetics. Current licensure as a Registered and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist in the state of Texas. Preferred experience working with people navigating behavioral health conditions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with staff and patients. Proficiency in conducting nutrition assessments and providing nutrition education & medical nutrition therapy interventions. Experience with nutrition coaching/counseling and motivational interviewing techniques. Ability to work effectively and efficiently, both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work with diverse populations. Growth-minded, coachable, teachable, receptive to constructive feedback (as needed), and eager to learn.

From $33.00 per hour
