EXPERIENCE
Supervisory experience in food service preferred Position Function/Purpose To assist in planning, organizing, directing and administering a school food service and nutrition program for the school district in the area of nutrition and promotion. Major Responsibilities 1. Provide leadership, supervision and coordination of department nutrition programs to include recipe development, menu planning, nutrient analyses and food purchasing in compliance with USDA and Texas Department of Agriculture guidelines. 2. Communicate school nutrition information to public via the web, presentations, media and print venues. 3. Coordinate special diets in consultation with students, parents, teachers, nurses, physicians and CNS Managers, following physician diet orders. 4. Coordinate special nutrition and feeding programs including the Head Start, Infant Feeding Program and Midland Children's Rehabilitation Center. 5. Develop and direct promotions and merchandising programs to increase student participation and promote good nutrition by working with students, school staff, administrators, and the public to effectively promote and otherwise enhance the Child Nutrition programs. 6. Implement Nutrition Component of Coordinated School Health Program. Work with Campus Coordinated Health Advisory team members to improve the school health environment. 7. Conduct bid procedures for purchasing food, paper and chemical items to include sample testing, development of specification and bid award. 8. Coordinate processing of USDA commodities. 9. Develop food production records and other records pertaining to the daily food service operation and instruct personnel in the use of these records. 10. Attend and assist in preparation and presentation of staff meetings, scheduled workshops, and service training as required. 11. Assist in developing departmental rules and procedures. 12. Participate in departmental budgetary planning and make recommendations regarding use of resources: labor, food and equipment. 13. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Enforce the policies, procedures, rules and regulations of the CNS Department, and policy regarding the child nutrition program for the Texas Department of Agriculture and the United States Department of Agriculture.
Qualification Requirements Minimum Education/Certification:
? Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition or equivalent ? Registered Dietitian preferred ? Valid Texas Driver's License and acceptable driving record, must adhere to
Midland ISD's Vehicle Safety & Use Program Special Knowledge/Skills:
Language Skills ? Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific journals, governmental regulations and policy manuals. ? Ability to write reports and business correspondence. ? Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups. ? Ability to work well with a diverse population Mathematical Skills ? Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, inventory needs and volume. ? Ability to calculate special diets. Reasoning ? Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. ? Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and variables. Other ? Working knowledge of quantity food preparation, record keeping, and inventory control. ? Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. ? Ability to plan menus using computer based program. ? Advanced Computer and data entry skills required. ? Ability to maintain organized well documented records. ? Ability to make decisions and work under pressure to meet deadlines. ?
