  • San Angelo, TX Angelo Kidney Connection is seeking a compassionate, patient-focused Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) to provide nutrition care and education for outpatient dialysis patients.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dietitian seeking a highly flexible, low-hour position while making a meaningful impact on the lives of patients with chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease. Position Overview This is a very part-time position with a flexible, self-managed schedule. Patients are seen once monthly for required nutritional assessments, counseling, and education. Because dialysis patients attend different treatment shifts, the dietitian must be available to round on patients during all clinic shifts, including early morning hours beginning at 5:00 AM for first-shift patients. Patient education is a cornerstone of this role. The successful candidate will be passionate about helping patients understand their disease process, dietary restrictions, laboratory results, and lifestyle choices that impact their health and quality of life. Responsibilities Conduct monthly nutrition assessments for dialysis patients Provide individualized renal and dialysis nutrition education Review and monitor laboratory values, weight trends, and nutritional status Develop, implement, and update patient-specific nutrition care plans Educate patients regarding: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Potassium, phosphorus, and sodium management Fluid restrictions Protein requirements Diabetes management in kidney disease Reading food labels and meal planning Improving treatment adherence and overall health outcomes Counsel patients and families using motivational and patient-centered approaches Collaborate with nephrologists, nurses, social workers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team Complete required documentation in the electronic medical record Participate in one mandatory monthly interdisciplinary care plan meeting (attendance may be in person, by phone, or virtually) Participate in the facility's monthly QAPI (Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement) meeting Assist with quality improvement initiatives and monitoring nutrition-related clinical outcomes Support compliance with CMS, state, and facility regulations Schedule Very part-time Flexible, self-scheduled patient visits Patients are seen once per month Must be available to round on patients during all three dialysis shifts: 1st
