Food Service Coordinator/Dietitian

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general direction of the Director of Food Services, the Food Service Coordinator assists in monitoring and managing of the school food services program standards and guidelines. Assists in developing, implementing and supervising food service related activities including Federal Program management, menu planning, nutrient analysis, nutrition education, classroom and community education/presentations. Follows guidance provided by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), Office of School Nutrition Programs at the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH). Works under indirect supervision of the Director of Food Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Oversees school nutrition programs and operations including conducting annual reviews to ensure compliance in the areas of nutrition standards, record keeping, free and reduced price policies, food safety and sanitation standards, financial and staff management; Supervises school food services staff, orients and trains new food services employees; Conducts performance evaluations, taking proper disciplinary action when necessary, writes plans of action, recommends employees for continued employment or termination; Ensures proper standards for sanitation are maintained; Responsible for promotion of nutrition education; Reviews weekly and monthly accountability reports, forecast and production records from each school and completes monthly reports for submission to the VDOE for reimbursements, including deduction error/audit checks to ensure proper reimbursements and elimination of over claims; Provides nutritional guidance in relation to the preparation of the division menus and product offerings; Assists with management and day to day operations of food service point of sale system; Assists with state and federal reviews; Assists in developing and managing nutrition activities that link the classroom with the cafeteria to achieve the objectives of the nutrition program; Collects and maintains documentation, prepares and presents reports as necessary related to nutrition activities; Develops and maintains strategies to incorporate healthy foods into the division; Develops and executes staff development training for division employees on nutrition; Provides guidance and materials for students related to nutritional values and concepts; Remains current on research in effective nutrition education strategies; Coordinates and supervises assigned sites to ensure compliance as mandated by federal, state and local guidelines; Coordinates processing of free and reduced price meal applications; Makes decisions and recommendations under the guidance of the Director of Food Service; Represents the Nutrition Services department at meetings as required; May fill in and assist at schools when needed; Performs related work as assigned.

Pay:

$59,883.84 - $85,000.00 per year
