Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing in overseeing clinical operations, ensuring compliance with hospice regulations, and leading the nursing team to deliver exceptional care. This role combines clinical leadership, operational oversight, and team mentorship to maintain high standards of practice and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist Director of Nursing with supervision of clinical staff including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs. Ensure compliance with federal (CMS), state, and hospice regulatory standards. Participate in clinical care plan development, patient assessments, and quality improvement activities. Conduct audits, performance reviews, and chart reviews to maintain documentation integrity. Support orientation, ongoing training, and mentorship for nursing staff. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care. Act as a clinical resource to field staff and participate in patient or family issues as needed. Assist with scheduling and staffing to meet clinical needs. Serve on leadership team to help shape operational policies and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required:
Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona . Minimum 4+ years hospice clinical experience and hospicemd software . Prior leadership or supervisory experience in hospice Strong knowledge of CMS hospice regulations, state rules, and hospice best practices . Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Hospice or palliative care certification (CHPN) or leadership training. Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), particularly with hospicemd.
