Berkeley, CA Job Details Part-time 5 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications Teamwork HIPAA Quality assurance Quality improvement Full Job Description Director of Staff Development (DSD) - Skilled Nursing Facility (77 Beds) The Director of Staff Development (DSD) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all staff education, orientation, competency training, and regulatory compliance programs within a 77-bed skilled nursing facility. This role ensures nursing staff maintain the knowledge, skills, and certifications necessary to provide high-quality resident care while meeting state and federal requirements. Position Summary The DSD works closely with the Administrator, Director of Nursing (DON), Infection Preventionist, and interdisciplinary team to develop and maintain educational programs that support clinical excellence, employee development, survey readiness, and quality outcomes. The position plays a key leadership role in onboarding, in-service training, competency evaluations, and maintaining compliance with CMS, OSHA, HIPAA, and state regulations. Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation for nursing and ancillary staff Develop and implement monthly in-service education programs Maintain annual competencies and mandatory training requirements Monitor staff compliance with licenses, certifications, CPR, TB testing, and health screenings Educate staff on infection prevention, emergency preparedness, abuse prevention, safety, HIPAA, and OSHA requirements Assist with CNA training and continuing education programs as applicable Perform skills validations and competency assessments for CNAs, LVNs, and RNs Maintain accurate education records and training documentation for survey readiness Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities Support preparation for state surveys and plans of correction Provide coaching, mentoring, and remediation training when performance issues arise Assist with staffing coordination and scheduling as needed Promote a positive culture of learning, teamwork, and resident-centered care
