This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of nursing operations, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care, and fostering a collaborative environment that promotes continuous improvement. Responsibilities Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance nursing services, improve patient outcomes, and align with organizational goals. Manage departmental budgets effectively, ensuring optimal resource allocation while maintaining high-quality care standards. Lead, mentor, and support nursing staff through management practices that promote professional growth and team cohesion. Oversee education programs for nursing staff, including ongoing training, certifications, and curriculum development to ensure compliance with industry standards. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care initiatives and foster a culture of safety and innovation. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and hospital policies to maintain compliance at all times. Facilitate communication between administration, faculty, clinical staff, and students to promote transparency and shared goals. Direct, oversee and evaluate all patient care personnel including LVNs, CNAs, and RTs. Assist in hiring staff, schedule initial orientation and yearly evaluation. Guide staffing needs and scheduling of appropriate clinical personnel. Help arrange alternatives in case of call ins. Educate, schedule, and ensure compliance of monthly in-service of nursing staff. Help admitting and discharging nurses with orders including medication related communication with pharmacies and other supplies. Ensuring discharge medications sent in timely fashion. Must do RN documentation in PCC once a week on all patients. (HSC § 1267.13) Facilitate day to day communication with patients' families and updates as needed to family. Communicate with Medical Director regarding any status changes of patient and participate in weekly care team rounds. Develop, implement, enforce policies and procedures, aiming legal compliance and high-quality standards. Help CDPH, Joint commission and CIHQ certifications. Coordinate quarterly staff meetings and QAPI meetings. Control budget and monitor expenditures. Minimize overtime. Resolve issues and deficiencies as needed. Check PCC for deficiencies and unsigned orders. Manage documentation requirements of staff. Collaborate with physicians, other departments, contracted employees, and professionals to assure operations success. Follow up on pharmacy recommendations. Communicate with staff and upper management efficiently and timely as required. Respond to text messages within 15 minutes and be able to come into the facility in case of urgent need within 30 minutes. Arrange coverage when out of town. (HSC § 1267.13) Responsible for creating and updating Infection Surveillance Report form. Perform Data analysis and trending along with QAPI Coordinator/Nursing Supervisor. Responsible for Reporting relevant findings to the QAPI committee. Assist and supervise LVNs with admissions which includes but not be limited to, ensure all admission orders, care plans are placed appropriately, initial skin assessment done accurately and signed off by 2 nurses including DON. If DON is not available at the time of admission, skin assessment and review of all orders and care plans must be done within 24-48hrs of admission. Experience Proven leadership experience in a senior nursing role within a healthcare or academic setting. Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource management within complex organizations. Strong background in education administration with experience in curriculum development or teaching at the university level. Extensive management experience leading diverse teams of healthcare professionals or educators. Familiarity with healthcare regulations, accreditation processes, and quality assurance protocols. Prior experience working within university or academic environments is highly desirable. Exceptional communication skills coupled with the ability to inspire teams toward shared success.
