Generous Bonuses Growth Opportunities Health Benefits 401K Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) / Infection Prevention (IP) Summary The primary responsibility of your job position is to assist with planning, organizing, developing, and directing overall operation of our Nursing Service Department following the current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern long term care and assisted living facilities. You are entrusted to ensure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to our residents at all times. In addition you will be responsible for the facility infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP), which is designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment and to help prevent the development and transmission of communicable diseases and infections. Facility located in Pueblo, CO.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
ADON Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department, as well as its programs and activities Develop, maintain, and periodically update written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary Determine the staffing needs Recommend the number and level of nursing personnel to be employed Assist in calculating the number of direct nursing personnel care on duty each shift Ensure that all nursing assistants are enrolled in or have graduated from an approved training program Develop work assignments and schedule duty hours Make daily rounds of the nursing service department to ensure all nursing personnel are performing their work assignments Review complaints and grievances made or filed by department personnel Ensure that disciplinary action is administered fairly Participate in the interviewing and selection of residents for admission Develop a written plan of care for each resident that identifies the problems/needs, indicated the care to be given, goals to be accomplished, and which professional service is responsible for each element of care Prepare and plan the nursing service department's budget and submit to the Administrator. Schedule, attend, and participate in nursing service meetings Demonstrate a passion for caring as evidenced by interaction with co-workers, residents, families, and visitors Perform all other duties, as assigned IP Demonstrates commitment to company's mission, values and standards of ethical behavior. Develops, implements, evaluates, and directs the facility's infection prevention and control program in accordance with current company policies and procedures, ensuring that facility is in compliance with current CDC, OSHA, and local regulations concerning infection prevention and control. Participates in facility surveys made by authorized government agencies as requested. Monitors infection prevention and control practices and procedures to ensure that all personnel are implementing standard operating procedures for tasks involving exposure to blood/body fluids. Makes rounds of nursing units for the purpose of case findings, review of environmental sanitation procedures, and supervision of isolation precautions/practices. Reviews and analyzes infectious disease laboratory reports and consults with DON to assure that aseptic techniques are implemented. Ensures that all personnel follow established procedures for disposal of infective and contaminated materials.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as willingness to handle difficult residents
EDUCATION
Must be a graduate of an approved Registered Nurse program. Must maintain a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred
EXPERIENCE
Must have, as a minimum, one (1) year of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care facility Prefer a minimum (6) months experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Moves intermittently during working hours. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances. Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc. Works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary. Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.). Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
