We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as our Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON). This leader will partner with the Director of Nursing to provide clinical oversight, mentor and develop nursing staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and uphold our commitment to exceptional, resident-centered care. Position Summary The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is a licensed Registered Nurse responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating the delivery of nursing services for residents in our Skilled Nursing and Long-Term Care community. The ADON provides clinical leadership, ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, promotes quality outcomes, and fosters a culture of compassion, accountability, and excellence. Essential Responsibilities Clinical Leadership Assist the Director of Nursing with the daily management of nursing operations. Ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centered nursing care that promotes dignity, comfort, and independence. Conduct comprehensive resident assessments and oversee the development and implementation of individualized care plans. Monitor resident outcomes and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to achieve the highest level of care. Provide clinical guidance and support to nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants. Respond to changes in resident condition and assist with complex clinical situations. Participate in admissions, discharges, care conferences, and resident rounds. Leadership & Staff Development Lead, coach, mentor, and support licensed nurses and nursing assistants. Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture. Assist with recruitment, interviewing, orientation, onboarding, training, and staff retention. Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to support employee growth. Ensure staff maintain required competencies and mandatory education. Quality & Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing Skilled Nursing facilities. Assist with Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives. Participate in survey preparation and lead follow-up corrective action plans. Monitor clinical documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance. Promote infection prevention, and act as the lead wound care nurse. Review incidents, accidents, and clinical trends to improve resident outcomes. Resident & Family Engagement Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through compassionate communication. Address resident and family concerns promptly and professionally. Participate in care conferences and collaborate with physicians, therapists, hospice providers, pharmacies, and other healthcare partners to ensure coordinated care. Administrative Responsibilities Assist with staffing coordination and scheduling to ensure appropriate clinical coverage. Help manage nursing department budgets, supplies, and equipment. Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and strategic planning initiatives. Assume responsibility for nursing operations in the absence of the Director of Nursing. Qualifications Required Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience in Skilled Nursing, Long-Term Care, Rehabilitation, or Post-Acute Care preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Current CPR/BLS certification. Thorough knowledge of long-term care regulations, clinical standards, Medicare, Medicaid, and resident rights. Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and critical-thinking skills. Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and assist residents throughout the workday.
