Job Description
Job Summary The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) plays a vital leadership role within healthcare facilities, supporting the Director of Nursing in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This dynamic position involves supervising nursing staff, managing daily operations, and fostering a compassionate environment focused on resident well-being. The ADON is responsible for coordinating clinical services, overseeing documentation and medical records, and maintaining high standards of nursing practice across various care settings such as assisted living, nursing homes, home health, hospice care, and acute care environments. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead with energy, inspire teams, and make a meaningful difference in residents' lives. Responsibilities Assist in developing and implementing comprehensive care plans tailored to each resident's needs, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements such as Medicare and HIPAA. Supervise nursing staff across shifts, providing mentorship, performance evaluations, and ongoing training to promote professional growth and excellence in care delivery. Oversee the management of medical records and documentation review processes using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to ensure accuracy and compliance. Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to monitor resident progress, update care plans regularly, and ensure the highest standards of physiology and anatomy knowledge are applied in daily practice. Ensure adherence to safety protocols related to HIPAA regulations, medical terminology accuracy, and proper documentation procedures for all medical records. Manage shift operations efficiently by overseeing staffing schedules, resource allocation, and ensuring smooth workflow during all hours of operation. Support the facility's compliance with federal and state regulations including Medicare requirements while maintaining a focus on quality improvement initiatives. Skills Extensive experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home health services or hospice care environments. Proven leadership skills with supervising experience in nursing management or nursing administration roles. Strong knowledge of MDS (Minimum Data Set), care planning processes, and documentation review standards. Proficiency with EMR systems and EHR systems for accurate record keeping and reporting. Deep understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and clinical procedures relevant to diverse healthcare settings. Excellent communication skills for effective nurse management, interdisciplinary collaboration, and resident engagement.
