Job Description
Dover Behavioral Health System is a 104-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in the beautiful Dover, Delaware area. Dover Behavioral Health System features individual units for adolescents and adults and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. The Chief Nursing Officer is a key member of the Dover BH Leadership Team who will integrate and coordinate a patient centric nursing strategy with a keen focus on patient care; ensuring that delivery of high-quality and cost-effective health care is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Universal Health Services and in accordance with government regulation, licensing and accreditation requirements. The CNO participates in the hospital's strategic planning and contributes to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives. The Chief Nursing Officer will focus on 5 key areas: People, Service, Quality, Growth, and Finance Creates an environment which supports employee development and teamwork to deliver compassionate patient care in a safe environment. Creates systems, processes and care standards to support the delivery of patient care in a safe, fiscally sound environment of service excellence. : Provides accessible, timely, efficient, cost effective care by utilizing evidenced -based practice and continuous performance improvement. Fosters an environment that supports growth and community through activities, partnerships and shared goals. Supports an environment of financial stability to achieve the UHS mission and strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and direction to Registered Nurses, LVNs and Mental Health Technicians. Recognizes signs and symptoms of chemical dependency disorders and applies/utilizes appropriate treatment interventions. Recognizes signs and symptoms of mental health disorders and applies/utilizes appropriate treatment interventions. Develops, implements and maintains a philosophy, goals and objectives for the Nursing department and inpatient units that are compatible with professional nursing practice and with the philosophy and purpose of the hospital. Provides administrative support to the supervisors and Program Directors. Collaborates closely with CEO and CFO to develop and understand budgeted annual FTE's for the hospital. Plan and coordinate with Program Directors/ Nurse Managers/ Infection Control Nurse staff mandatory trainings as evident of the ongoing changes in health care. Responsible for assuring adequate staffing all inpatient units 24/7. Assists the Chief Nursing Officer with hiring, terminations, and discrepancy actions for all nursing service personnel (in collaboration with Human Resources); interprets, implements, and enforces appropriate policies and procedures. Maintains and promotes customer satisfaction, and adheres to Kingwood Pines Hospital's policies/procedures and the Service Excellence Standards. Assists the Chief Nursing Officer with education, training, and onboarding of nursing staff.Job Requirements:
Licensure:
Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of DE. Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a CCNE accredited nursing program; Master of Science in Nursing is strongly preferred. Demonstrated working knowledge of behavioral health nursing clinical practices and management. Extensive knowledge of principles and practices relevant to nursing and patient care activities. Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills. Three or more years of progressive nursing management experience Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others' activities with demonstrated leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environmentPreferred Qualifications:
