Job Summary:
The Director of Nursing ( DON ) is responsible to provide nursing management, set resident standards for all direct care providers and provide complete supervision and management of the nursing department. Has twenty
  • four (24) hour responsibility, authority, and accountability for the management of nursing care for residents and the supervision of the nursing staff.

Major Duties/Critical Tasks:
Assume responsibility for the development of nursing service objectives and performance standards of nursing practice for each category of nursing personnel. Assume accountability for the organization and implementation of approved policies and procedures. Interview, select, and hire staff both professional and non-professional clinical staff who will plan, provide, and evaluate care of the elderly and chronically ill residents. Evaluate the quality and productivity of the nursing workload. Analyze and evaluate nursing staff ratio based on acuity and resident's needs. Interpret policy and procedure internally for nursing staff, all ancillary staff, and externally for community and regulatory agencies. Direct, evaluate and supervise all resident care and initiate corrective action as necessary. Plan and direct nursing staff orientation, in service education, and competency testing. Assess resident care needs and assist in the development of individualized plans of resident care. Assume responsibility for implementation of Clinical and Prospective Payment System Minimum Data Set completion schedule. Assess resident pre-admission and/or admission information and determine appropriate level of care. Assume responsibility for development and implementation of nursing rehabilitation and restorative programs. Director of Nursing ( DON )
Required Education/Experience:
Diploma from an accredited school of nursing Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN ) in the State of practice Management experience
